The name of one of a kind
My officially name is Nga and that is my Vietnamese name, but i like people to call me Eric because it is easier for people are not from Vietnam. My name is kind of complicated. It has so many different meanings in Vietnamese. It means fancy, something that not everyone has. It means a thing that is valued by a King, a Prince, … but in English it has no meaning. My dad and my mom were really proud that had given me this name because it was one of a kind. It is not popular in Vietnam, but it sounds really great and not everyone could think of this name and my dad did. People really like my name too when they first read it or just meet me and ask what my name is. In my point of view, I really like it. In addition, one part is I’m showing my respect to my dad because he took time to name me. Another part is because mine is one of a kind in school or lots of places that I have been, and nobody that had same as me and it is kind of cool and different, so I like it so much. I was not named after someone and there is no story behind my name either. To sum up, if anyone asks me if I would change my name, the answer would be no, and I will answer right away without thinking or hesitating.
If you will be come a U.S.A. citizen, you can change your name. My question is, will you change your name Nga to Eric?
