Little Warrior
On a sunny and beautiful day while I was still in my mother's belly, she decided that it was the moment to think about possible names to name me. My parents were living far from home. They were from China, from a province a few hours from Hong Kong and determined to change their lives, so they chose Brazil as their new home.
It was not an easy task since they were not able to speak Portuguese yet at that time, so the only names that came up in their mind were names from people they knew in Brazil , which were not many.
They decided to name me Fatima which was the name of my parents teacher, but gladly in the end they named me with a completely different name, which I am grateful for since Fatima is such a horrible and ugly name. I would probably be bullied if I had that name.
In the end, my parents thought that would be better to name me only after seeing my little face first. I was born strong and healthy, smiley but pint-sized, so as soon my mother stared at me, she could not help herself and started to sob.
My mother and my father were so content and could not be happier. However, at the same time knowing life would not be easier by the fact that we would need to adapt our lives in a completely different country from theirs, they named me Wu Sil Hong, which means little red warrior.

Fatima, sounds like Arabic for me and I think your name is beautiful. I was impressed that our family roots have a very deep and diversity background.
ReplyDeleteThe origin of your name is special.
